Leading from the heart or leading with hands?
A few days ago, i had a confrontation with a worker.
I was upset that he had invaded my area of work and that he had made
changes without my permission.
Maybe i was a little petty but i was reminded really quickly that
finances still matter.
The difference between my orders and those of my wealthier colleague
boiled down to the dollar. As long as i was not the one who was paying
him, he had no business
doing anything that i said no matter how wise or useful.
Do you find yourself in this situation where you have to depend on
something other than your money to get people to follow you?
Most leaders have dealt with this too!
Maybe it is a question about love or fear. Maybe it is a question about
influence in leadership. Maybe it deals with respect. The choice is
really yours.
If we can manage to have other follow us even in a time of lack, then
maybe we have made a breakthrough. But if on the other hand we are still
dependent on handouts and gifts to pacify our crowds, then we have
missed the mark.
