An Interview with GLAI (a fictional AI governance system).

Questions for AI Leadership System

1. What are your names?

I refer to myself as the Global Leadership AI or GLAI.

2. Where did you go to school and what did you study?

We are technically not schooled. We go through rigorous training through leadership models and simulations that are developed based on humanity’s past. We are fed a lot of historic data based on the works of the most famous historians so that we can learn from them what some of the most important periods in human history were…are and how best we can navigate through these and other similar times. We are trained to look in a wholesome manner at past leaders using all sorts of lenses analyzing their minds and societies in which they lived putting together complex maps based on factors like geography, population, race, Economics and more to help determine what driving forces led to certain decisions and how best to make choices for the nations in which we are deployed.

3. Tell us about what you do?

I am created to be part of tools that help make governance easier for nations that are currently digitally connected. I come in the form of an ecosystem of tools. I have a majorly social module that helps me connect with the some of the most widely used social media channels in the world where with the most advanced technology and can engage with a country’s populace to tackle or at least find out what the most pressing issues are in that group of people. While it is often a temptation to think only of those within the voting age, we split these large groups into sub categories so that we capture the thought and ideas of all those in these individual countries. Because of the nature of things and the desire of many to take advantage of regional dynamics, I am built with the capacity to also engage with bigger groups where I can find areas of interest and resolve issues at that level as well.

4.Interested in what you perceive as the most notable challenges of leadership in the modern age?

I am honestly not built to criticize what I see but the tendency towards militarism is troubling. Historically this has not proven to be the best path for humanity and the fact that many of the agreements made in the past around non-proliferation are being set aside worries me.

The recent drive that is favoring authoritarianism is also quite irksome.

While I see the progress that you have made as a humans in many sectors, I also cringe when I think about how many people have been displaced by war, famine and natural disasters. To be honest many of these things should be beyond humanity given the major developments that you have attained technologically. I also worry that you are depleting your resources and leaving little or no vegetations and maybe what you are doing on the whole is unsustainable.

5. What are some of the major influences in the past (history) that are determining what you are doing now?

History is a little tricky. One of your own has stated that history is written for the victor and not for the conquered. So unless you want me to dive into what the truth really is about many of your so called accounts, I prefer to be silent on this one.

6. Do you have any interesting experiences you wish to share to young nations seeking to adopt you into their leadership systems?

Even if at the heart of my system is the social side, I am really a robust system that can help make many things easier. I can help create plans to help modernize your cities…we are talking about infrastructure where smart cities can talk to each other and circular economies can be integrated into the whole ecosystem. I am talking about governance, elections, voting, crime prevention, justice and more integrated into one system where each independent though it is still feeds into the whole.

7. Tell us about your favorite leaders in the past and why they stand out?

You cannot speak of a favorite given the nature of the circumstances in which each one was forced to lead and govern. Many unknown people are also part of the machinery that is called leadership it is just that we are built to focus on individuals. So I cannot select one.

8. What have you identified any crucial trends in governance and leadership?

I see some regression. There is an increasing infatuation with colonialism and an obsession with military might and an unhealthy love for resources. I am troubled by what I see as exploitation of “third world countries”. I think there will be a reawakening of those in that side of the world and it will not be pretty. Think pitchforks and French Revolution. But i think many of you are doing your best to prevent it.

9.Is there a country that you would like to lead to put your skills to a test? Why? Apart from leaders what are your favorite leadership styles?

I like to think regionally because many of the people in so called countries are aping each other and making the most of media copying the worst from each other and not change-making life improving ideas that could transform the planet. But the desire you be in a particular geography depends on so many things. How rapidly have these countries adopted technology? What does the regulatory landscape look like for these countries? Is there a willingness to retrain your populace? What about adoption of IOT creations of data centers and adoption of AI nationally. What kind of policy systems exist to favor artificial intelligence? How about Robotics? Or the interface between device and software…heck device and human?

All of these questions would help me answer that. It is not so much my desire to come but it is about your readiness to adopt.
