Race Relations: Lessons from the Underworld

You know how in the underworld movie, there is a species of bat and a species of wolf? And then in between there is a hero who is a hybrid of both and is supposed to help make a difference?

Well maybe that is a summary of the battle between the races.
Perhaps this is the role that the half-caste plays as a mediator between the races.
And it kind of makes sense given the nature of things and the rise of B.H.O!

It is a safe position from which i can launch criticism for the races. Nothing particularly pretty about bats and beasts. And the possibility of finding an in between that merges the interests of both and that can provide a sense of redemption.

This week i got the sense that we were still in one of those pre-revolutionary war days. England was launching an assault on the U.S and attempting to flex her muscle to rein in an old rebel. This time, though the race card was used in Hollywood. How you ask?
Well by presenting an Oscar to a non-African American director and actress...and that from England of all places.

Kind of like bypassing Jesse Jackson, Herman Cain and some other black leaders for the presidency and giving it to an African (B.H.O).

So on my facebook page i asked a few questions in the hope of stirring your minds to effective thought. I questioned why the Hispanics created an award for themselves as well as the existence and creation of black entertainment television. It was in my view a response by a frustrated group of a lack of appreciation and the realization that affirmation can be derived from within.

Don't get me wrong, i think the young lady from Kenya is a great actress and the skills of the director (who happens to share a name with a famous actor as well as a fashion designer) are beyond questioning.

So i think you were right in selecting a young man who was able to tap into your souls in an attempt to build some of your bridges long damaged by catastrophic events.

Maybe you have grown weary and perhaps you have placed too much responsibility on his shoulders. My advise to you is that you begin to think not so much in terms of who leads you but what you can do as leaders yourselves.
