An Interview with Angufibo Lincoln A Full Stack Developer

Image
For the month of September we definitely have an Application focus. To go with this theme, we thought is would be great to interview a young man that is at the cutting edge of software development. For the first section (which we call Under The Scope) of the magazine, you  noticed that we talked about Jumia while in the second section (On The Scale) we talked about Safe Boda. It therefore makes sense that we devote a section of the month’s magazine  on the subject of the actual design of application of these kinds and some of the minds  that are behind the development of these apps.  So we present an interview that was done with Lincoln Angufibo. A young man the editor  met online on Twitter but who we later connected with at a Data Science meetup organized  by Data Science Network Nigeria in collaboration with Outbox Hub.  1.  What is your name?          My name is Angufibo Tonny Lincoln 2.  Where are you from? ...

Human Centered Design at OutBox Hub with Dr. Debra Bishop of Drake University

Image
We just completed a session of some training on Human Centered Design. The event was held at OutBox Hub-a business incubation space, innovation center and co-working space. Outbox Hub was one of the first of its kind of spaces that was designed to help small business people or startups to get their businesses housed incubated.  Outbox hub has an interesting approach to innovation and incubation. They have great partnerships with many key players in Government, Non Governmental Organizations, Health Sector Players as well as Business. They use these partnerships to solve local challenges with technology. This means for example that they have competitions where students and developers can come up with solutions to health (governance, sector-wide challenges), problems that are developed over time, or over a weekend (hackathons).  They also present young business people with the chance to pitch their ideas to an audience of possible investors where they can progress and have their...

Open Source Summit Kampala 2022

Image
Today i had the privilege of attending the second Open Source Summit of Kampala. The numbers were great possibly about 70 young people. The event was slated for the Saturday 9th of April, 2022 at about 10PM. A lot if the hype around the event was created months ago but the major push came from the social media page on twitter that is alive and active. When i attended i admit to expecting some tables devoted to the Open Source giants of the age such as a Linux Community with all the major players and hearing about their work. As a Fedora, Open Suse and Ubuntu user myself i almost wanted to go with a copy of Linux on a stick that i recently installed in a dual boot environment.  The first session was hosted by Solomon Opio who brings with him a wealth of experience having started of with Outbox Hub. He is currently working with Innovation Village which played host to the event and sponsored a great part of it. What was interesting was to hear his perspectives about the tech space in ...
