Epic battles of the Wifi Kind
If you were anywhere around the Kampala area, especially in any of the cafes, you probably noticed some of what was going on in the Information Technology World. Internet services were being rolled out and those who had mobile devices...especially laptops or notebooks were flooding or flocking to eating places to take advantage of the relatively affordable wifi services. Uganda Telecom, had some adverts and a pretty impressive services that were available in a host of places in the city. To match this, they had a pretty simple manner in which you could request internet wifi codes. Using your phone, you could request a services after loading the required amount of money on your phone.

Other places had service available with providers like infocom. The establishment needed only to purchase the software and request the service...for a fee of course. With this running, they would generate and print codes for their clients to use. do the math, and you would probably have an impressive system with which you could attract more business oriented clientele and make some extra cash on the fly!
A couple of things have changed since then. the dawn of the USB GPRS service as well as the appearance of smart and more affordable internet ready phones. While this has changed the level of play and the provision of services, the possibilities for business still exist. Even if companies may not realize the initial benefits of internet services in eating places, hidden benefits such as those of advertising abound. While potential clients are not necessarily looking for a wifi connection, they may end up changing to your service mainly because it is visible and also because in the presence of frustration-convenience.
